KS4 - Art
Intent:
Here at Newland School for Girls in Art, craft and design, we practise, take risks and explore skills taught in KS3 to push students' personal responses in KS4. We deliver a high-quality art and design education that engages, inspires and challenges our students. This equips them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own journey within their works of art. As they progress and grow in their confidence and abilities; they are able to think critically and develop a more rigorous understanding of art and design in response to given and individually selected themes.
Our SEND intent is that effective teaching and learning will make sure that the entire Art curriculum is available to all students through careful structuring of activities, scaffolding of skills and personalised teaching.
Carrying forward the skills learnt at KS3, during KS4 students develop their creativity, ideas and increase proficiency in their execution. They do this by continuing to develop a critical understanding of artists, designers and works of Art both historic and modern. Students are able to be inspired and link their own ideas to the work of others.
